Trendivox: One of the biggest event launches from Apple in recent years is looming, and it's the iPhone 18 Pro. Alongside what's expected to be the iPhone 18 Pro Max and a rumored first-ever foldable iPhone, it will likely be the star of Apple's event in September. While Apple have not officially released any details of the upcoming event or of the iPhone 18 Pro at this current time, here's what we believe is likely to happen.

IPhone 18 Pro release date

According to latest reports, Apple are expected to reveal the latest generation iPhone at an event reportedly scheduled for September 9, 2026. Pre-orders are thought to follow later in September, followed by retail availability soon after. However, the current date is not yet officially confirmed by Apple.

In what's perhaps one of the biggest shifts from traditional iPhone launch events, recent reports suggest Apple will unveil their premium iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max at their autumn 2026 event, with the cheaper standard model only releasing in early 2027.

IPhone 18 Pro what's new?

First up is Apple's latest gen A20 Pro chip, which is heavily rumored to be included in the iPhone 18 Pro. Sources suggest it will utilize TSMC's first generation 2nm process, meaning the new A20 Pro chip should pack significantly improved performance and battery efficiency compared to previous models.

This new chip may also influence the display design. There are rumors that Apple's 'Dynamic Island' size could shrink, possibly due to Face ID components being shifted beneath the device's display. This would grant users a more minimal front design while still retaining the Dynamic Island at the top.

Expected camera improvements will be something to consider too. Reports point to a rumored upgrade to a variable aperture main camera, enabling the user to adjust how much light enters the device's sensor at any one time, so user's will be able to take shots that are more focused and well-exposed regardless of lighting.

What about the iPhone 18?

Now, things get complicated again with this device. As hinted at above, reports indicate that the 2026 event may actually skip the standard iPhone 18, with Apple pushing its release out to early next year. The other possibility is that the less costly, and potentially redesigned iPhone 18 could accompany it with new models later on in the year.

This is a major deviation from the traditional yearly update for the iPhones.

Is it worth upgrading to the iPhone 18 Pro?

If you are contemplating upgrading, then the iPhone 18 Pro could be worth the wait for those looking for the latest processor, improved camera specs, and a fresh design with a potentially smaller, but still dynamic, display. Although it's important to remember this are still just rumors.

The biggest questions will be regarding the exact specification of the camera, the design that will eventually make it to production and the price tag.

Until Apple make an official statement about the devices, the iPhone 18 Pro looks like the most anticipated release of the year.

Trendivox Tip: Remember most specs are only rumors before Apple confirms them.
